MORE Crawfish Ya'll
We got one more crawfish boil in before the season was over thank goodness. And let me tell you, they were EXCELLENT!!
"I did it!! I stuck my hand in the tub of LIVE, very LARGE crawfish and I didn't get pinched. I think I'll do it again!!!!"
For the record, this was the second table top full of crawfish (out of a total of five). The other half of the crew was in the kitchen working on the other table that was full of crawfish.

Letting Her Hair Down
I'm very excited that Avery finally has enough hair for small pig tails. Unfortunately for her, but fortunately for funny pics, even after the pony tail holders and bows have been taken out (usually by her) her hair pretty much stays in the same place. Think Ace Ventura/Flock of Seagulls hair do.

4th of July
We spent the fourth out in Richmond, TX with great-gran-dad Lee and his wife Anne. They have a really nice, spacious backyard that Avery was loving every inch of. We had a great time and we even got to see a few fireworks. Every time she would see one she would very clearly say "WOW". We enjoyed watching her expressions as the fireworks went off as much as she enjoyed seeing them.

Water Baby
Avery loves being outside, as you can see. Besides having the pool to splash around in, Sharon (aka "Mimi") has introduced Avery to the joy of gardening. Most of our leafy friends on the back patio Avery helped plant. And she really enjoys watering her flowers and herbs.

James just about goes into cardiac arrest when she does things like this. How else is she suppose to learn to climb trees?

Pool Time Fun
Here are some good shots of the kiddies enjoying the pool. Avery didn't stay in it for very long (I wasted a lot of sunscreen on her that day when clearly I should have used it for myself since my pastiness seems to be magnified in the sun). Abram just woke up from his nap so he wasn't too sure of the situation. It only looks like he's ready to punch someone out. He got into the water lovin' groove in no time. And Ethan didn't know what the hell was going on...or maybe he did.
"Please Ma, no tans lines"
Ethan is trying to make a run for it. I think he's seen these looks on his brother's face before.

Ok, so it's been just over a month since we've posted anything and for that we're sorry. BUT!, we have acquired some classic Avery pictures that we know will please the angry hordes that have been dutifully checking the site. It might take a few days to get all the good stuff posted but it must be done, for after the weekend there will be pictures of the B.R. crawfish boil to share. So let's begin with a few early June pics.
Avery and Mimi making rice crispy treats
...I think it needs a little more vanilla Mimi
Abram and Ethan hung out with us a few weekends ago while Jason and Tonya were enjoying some much needed time away from the kids.
Avery was not all that thrilled that Ethan was using her walker/glider...or that Abram was tasting its wares

Summertime
Ok so no tankini's for this little water baby. Daddy thinks they are too revealing. It looks like she's in for a life of one piece bathing suits. We don't have the baby pool yet (its been ordered and is on its way) but the sprinkler is getting the job done for now.

Crawfish ya'll
We spent this past mother's day in Baton Rouge and finally got to enjoy a much needed crawfish boil. It was Avery's first introduction to the tasty little mud bugs. And of course, she loved them. She did find a few of the batches a little spicy for her still developing palate, but she soldiered on and kept eating them. That's our girl!
Her cousin Nathan (a veteran at handling crawfish) showed her the wrangling and holding techniques for crawfish
Can you see her eyes watering in this picture? Between that, grabbing her tongue and grunting, we were pretty sure that was her way of taking on and getting past the spicyness.

And like all little ones new to and still learning the ropes of the boil, Avery got her tails without having to do any of the work.
