Magic Marker Play Time

Just when ya think you can leave a 2 1/2 year old to watch a movie by herself for about ten minutes, she does something like this and reminds you not to stay gone for too long.  Thankfully the markers are washable or this might not be so funny.  Ok, it probably would still be funny, but very frustrating also.  (There are a few events that needed to be posted before this but I just had to get this up for all to see)

This just happened at about 4:30 p.m.

Easter in BR

These pics are from Easter Day.  We spent the day at my grandparent's house and ate crawfish and drank beer all day long...well James did anyway.  Avery had a great time with her cousins, playing with her and keeping her busy.

Of course we had to start the day with cafe au lait and beignets!!

The uplifted tree stump behind my two uncles in this picture is the old pecan tree next to my grandparents house.  You can see it upright in the June 2008 BR crawfish posting, behind Avery and her cousin Nathan.  Unfortunately, it was blown down onto their house during Gustav last year.

This girly-girl has to have her heels!  She had a few to pick from and of course chose the ones that went best with her dress.

Our Little Horticulturalist

I meant to put these up before the Easter pictures.  Our little Avery is becoming quite the toddler with a green thumb.  She thoroughly enjoyed helping me plant the new flowers for the side of the house.  Before Easter, she and Sharon got different herb and veggie seeds planted.  Soon we will have a nice little herb/veggie garden to enjoy.  And in case they aren't distinguishable in the pictures, she has her very own Dora the Explorer garden gloves and hand cultivator. Everyday is Earth Day here!!

Easter Egg Hunt At School

Since Avery goes to school everyday of the week, she got to participate in two Easter egg hunts. Sharon (her Mimi) and I were the (last minute) "volunteers" those two mornings to help out with getting the kids ready for the hunt and hiding the eggs.  Here are some shots on both hunting days, in the classroom and outside as the hunting is getting underway!

Dinnertime for 'Baby'

It's been a while since we've put any video of Avery on the blog. We've (and by that I'm mean James) been having so much fun with our nice camera, that usually that's what we have on hand to capture the cuteness. Well this time we were ready and Avery sure did deliver. Here she is feeding her baby just before it was time for us to have dinner. Enjoy!!

Classic Avery

Here are some pics of our little angel

this picture speaks for itself

a somewhat triumphant attempt at dressing herself

loves kisses any way she can get them

her "chair" is actually the stroller for her baby doll's and black dog, but you can't tell Avery that

Here are a few more pics from the rodeo

Avery was hoping that the rabbits would share their snacks with her.

One of the baby goats took refuge from all the crazy kiddies on the back of a llama.

No matter how hard you try, ya just can't say "Don't pet the giant pigs butt!!" fast enough.

Here are some of the 'smaller' cattle that were hanging around

And she's out!!!  This was one happy, yet exhausted little munchkin.

Rodeo time!

Ok, so sorry to all who have been checking Avery's blog for updates.  I was hoping to be able to post on a regular basis, but I just haven't been able to.  Here are some pictures from the Houston Rodeo and Livestock show that's going on right now.  We didn't see any actual "rodeo" stuff, but we got to see and smell lots of livestock.  Avery had a blast petting all of the animals in the children's petting zoo.  I also got some pretty great shots of her and James on the merry-go-round.  She was literally squealing with delight while she was riding it.  Enjoy!!!

She laughed the whole way down the slide.

The llama got a little too close for comfort.

Here we go!

Ok, so we've been very, very bad about keeping the blog updated. Here are some pics of our Christmas vacation in Baton Rouge. There was a lot going on. Besides Christmas of course, we celebrated my brother David's birthday as well as Ethan's birthday, one of my nephews and the youngest of the 15 great-grand children. There are quite a few pictures, so I'll be posting (hopefully) over the next few days. Here's hoping we can stay on track for the new year. I guess we'll see!!!

Thanksgiving in Georgia

A little late, but here's the Turkey Day post.  This year we spent Thanksgiving in Georgia. Avery was so excited to see her Mimi, Pop-pop, and Ana (Auntie Anne).  She hadn't seen them since this summer so she didn't waste any opportunities to hang out with them (and vise versa of course).  It was VERY cold most of the time we were there, but as you can see from this first picture, Thanksgiving Day was perfect.  No need for the big fluffy coat that would have covered her cute outfit.

After a good deal of turkey and A LOT of pumpkin pie, Avery got a bedtime story from her Mimi

Winter Wonder Land!!!

It's snowing in Houston! We can't believe it. We have an "Avery's first" that we didn't think we'd see here in H-town.

I caught some snow with my tongue!!
